Happy shopping and happy holidays!

It’s been over a month since we’ve posted an update here, and we apologize for that. We’re going to make it up to you with a handful of links that will kick your holiday shopping off with a bang and save you time and money along the way.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. We have more tech gift guides coming down the pike, so check back often.

Many of you have written in to provide extra input on some of the questions posted to DeGeeked, and we appreciate every bit of your feedback. Some of that feedback has been really good. So good that we figured the whole world should be privy to it.

That’s why we’re excited to announce the launch of user comments on DeGeeked.com today. Check out any individual post to read and post comments on that question/answer.

The DeGeeked Crew is very pleased to announce a new content partnership with the digital scrapbooking site, DigiScrapInfo. Here’s a brief intro on them:

DigiScrapInfo.com is dedicated to bringing you information and resources for digital scrapbooking. In helping people with questions we realized a great need existed to have this information in one place. Our specialty is organizing with ACDSee Photo Manager. In addition, we provide resources on photo book printing and other online printing resources. So many places are offering printing services and we have a list to guide you in finding those resources. Lastly, we blog about tools digital scrappers will find interesting or useful.

We will be posting things over at DigiScrapInfo once a week or so to let their audience in on all our good DeGeeked tips on digital photography questions and products.

It is a fact that one of the founders of DeGeeked.com has a BFA in photography from a fancy art school in New York City, so we have a pretty good idea who is behind the latest string of photography-related posts. That said, he knows his stuff, so check these out, because they are special.

But wait, that’s only four posts. The title says “5 Wicked Awesome Photography-related Posts.” Yeah, we know, we can count. We’re the geeks, remember!

The fifth post isn’t in the above list because it wasn’t written by our resident photography expert; it was written by (and we’re very excited about this) DeGeeked.com’s very first Guest Author, Christo van Gemert! Cool, huh? You know what’s even cooler? He’s from South Africa and an actual professional writer! Here’s his very brief bio:

Christo hails from South Africa, a surprisingly tech-friendly country. He’s a journalist for Digital Life magazine, and has been writing about computers, gadgets, games and the internet since 2002. He uses a Mac and lives by the motto, “The best gadget is the one that has as much technology as is needed to get the job done.”

And without further ado, here’s Christo’s first post – and the fifth post, as promised:

We think Christo really hit this one out of the park, and we look forward to many more posts to come.

How do I secure my wireless network? Oh, if we had a million dollars for every time we heard that question! And we bet you’ve either asked it or been asked it, depending on your tech-savvy stature. No more worries, my friends. Now you have your go-to answers:

5 Steps to a Secure Wireless Network

As with all DeGeeked answers, it’s just the facts. No in-depth explanations of the relative merits of WPA and WPA2 or how encryption works or any of that. Just five (with a few more hidden within the answers) simple settings that you can flip in your wireless router to make it and your wireless network more secure. Plus, we through in some resource links for good measure.

We know people love lists. We know people love bargains. That’s why we continue to add to DeGeeked.com’s stable of consumer electronics top 10 lists. This time, we’ve added two awesome lists related to HDTVs.

So, the “under $500″ one speaks for itself. Who wouldn’t want an HDTV under $500. But the Top 10 HDTVs under $1000 contains a couple surprises.

First, all the TVs aren’t just high-def, they are 1080p high-def! Not only that, these aren’t little TVs suitable only for your half bathroom or something, they are all 32 inches or larger. Lastly, these are not off-brand, refurbished HDTVs. All are brand-names (Sharp dominates the list) and brand new TVs.

Do yourself, and your wallet, a favor. Check these lists out and buy yourself a little back to school present on the cheap.

If there’s one thing we know it’s that everyone loves lists. So, we’ve added a new feature on DeGeeked. Top 10 lists! The first four are up. Here they are:

Check back often for more top 10 lists. And let us know in the comments what top 10 list you’d like to see.

DeGeeked.com launched exactly one month ago today to provide simple answers to tech questions for all those people who were tired of getting technical questions to tech questions. We’ve heard from a lot of you that our site has helped you solve a problem or answer a question you’ve had, and that makes us feel great!

But we haven’t answered all the questions in the world, yet, so we encourage you to ask us your tech question.

In case you were wondering, our most popular question to-date is: What’s the best digital camera under $200?

Thanks to all our visitors and question-submitters. We thank you for your support!
